Hello Glen,

If you could bring some pictures monday night I would definitely like a look-see. I, for one would even go far enough to do a down-payment to help to keep you from tying up too much capital in the fiber. If I knew I was getting a new "toy" before next years hiking season I would go for it.

Glenn:

Are your photos somewhere on a webpage, or are they residing in your computer's hard drive?

1. If pics are on a website, then type this:

@img src="http://xxx"%

NOTE 1: instead of @, type <
NOTE 2: instead of %, type >
NOTE 3: instead of http://xxx, type in actual address

2. If pic is on your own computer, then when you create your post, click the red box above the subject line "Insert Image at Cursor" to upload your image. I think you can only upload one image per message. To insert more pics, just reply to your post — inserting one additional picture per reply.

Hope this helps.

That’s one way.

Another way is to join PhotoBucket, upload your photo, copy the html coding, and paste it here on the forums in your post. Very easy plus you can use the photo anywhere on the web.

Glenn:

Very, very nice! In the first photo, I like how the pole pulls on the back wall to inrease interior space.

So what happened to the tent? How come you don't have it anymore to bring with you to A16 this coming Monday? Or perhaps I misunderstand???

Ben, nice is right!

Hi Glen, good to hear from you. You did send me a picture of the shelter before, but looking at it here in these new photos is really exciting; I get a much better sense of it. Nice design!

I'm curious if that fin-like protrusion in the back is part of the pole support and is there to offer continuous tension to the back panel. May I ask why you used that instead of EVC cord like elsewhere? Does it make the shelter stronger? Are there no problems with that catching the wind? Also, I'm curious, is there a pole in the ridge? And one last question… what kind of opening is there in the rear window?

Like others, I would love to have this shelter… but $600.00, well, I think I'll pass with cuben fiber and stay with spinntex.

Have been pondering tweaks to my own pyramid shelter that you saw a while back. First and foremost is to make it smaller!

Hey Miguel! Yes, the rear 'fin' is to provide support to the rear wall. However, this shelter, because of it's relatively high profile (lots of headroom for me at 6'4") and large surfaces, would not be a good choice for a trip where you expect heavy exposure to high winds and inability to find somewhat sheltered spots. Everything is a tradeoff. We have not seen problems with the fin catching wind, it's a pretty small surface compared to the rest of the tent.

There is no pole in the ridge. There are two screened openings in the rear wall for ventilation, which may or may not be necessary. On this prototype there are 'flaps' that can be used to close the openings from the inside, these are definitely not necessary and will be dropped.

I have no idea on the $600, maybe it would 'only' be $400… we're simply not at that point yet. We don't anticipate making too many of the cuben fiber version.

Glad to hear you're still working on your shelter…don't make it TOO small!

What? Now you tell me! There I was training myself to make do with just my right hand under the smallest tarp I could put together, and you tell me to make it bigger? Don't tell me the Master of the Insubstantial is growing soft!

Hey, I'm just saying don't design it so only people under 5'2" can get under it…

Glen, I hope my humor came across. I was just joking. Your advice has always been something I've respected a lot. After all you are one of the people who changed my entire outlook on being outdoors, and your G4 pack that I bought from you way back when was the start of it all for me. I'm still amazed by what you can do and by how your mind works. It's very inspiring.
