Happy Saturday everyone!

I've looked for some information on this shelter but not finding much on BPL. Any experiences or thoughts on this shelter is greatly appreciated.

I'm working through the very long and arduous process of picking out a shelter for my Wonderland Trail hike this summer. Here's some background noise on my situation and this hike:

*I'm 6'3"; duo mid and hexamid do not appear to be good choices based on my height.
*My 12 y/o daughter will be joining me on this hike so restricted to 2 person shelters
*I'd normally be ok with just a basic tarp but I want better protection for her from mosquitos and the rain
*I'm restricted to designated camping sites so my site selection will be very limited
*May be assigned a camping site prone to standing water
*Still waiting to see if either of my itineraries have been approved but hopefully this hike will be in August. It will hopefully be dry but we could encounter rain for days on end.

By no means am I married to any shelter yet but I'm enamored with the BearPaw WD AT2. Here is a video for it for those who are not familiar with this shelter:

Posted specs:

AT 2 Length
Canopy 92" x 66"
Floor 86" x 55"
Front Peak Height: 50"
Sleeps 6'6" person
Packed: 12" x 4" dia.

AT 2 Weight
w/30D sil floor: 30 oz.
w/70D sil floor: 35 oz.

Price is right at $239 for hanging floor.

I seems to have some of the features I'm interested in with the SL2 and the Scout. My guess is that this would be less resilient to the wind than the SL2. I'm not sure what the HH is for the 70d vs 30d floor versions but it seems that I'm better off opting for the 30d and using a tyvek ground sheet for nearly the same total weight of the 70d with added floor protection.

Shelters I've previously considered:

SL2 – Will still probably buy this for solo/4 season hiking but right now leaning more towards something with integrated bathtub floor and bug protection (single wall mainly) over modular. May reconsider if I can find a nest for sale but total weight would be higher than BearPaw AT2 I believe

SL3 – Weight is high if I use the nest.

Double Rainbow – Still a contender and I like that it's freestanding when I add a trekking pole. Seems tight and heavier than the BP AT2.

BA Scout – Interesting concept but after reading a review on BPL, looks like it needs more work and no longer considering it.

BA Fly Creek 2/Platinum & MH – Setting it up in the rain may be problematic and after reading a couple reviews, especially Dandy Dan's, does not seem to be the best option for the rain. See these coming up for sale frequently so I'm guessing that there's quite a bit of buyers remorse. Expensive.

Happy Saturday. Have you considered getting the SL2 and having Bearpawwd sew in a groundsheet for you? Kind of a hybrid between the SL2 and the AT2.

I'd actually like that set up very much. I'll contact him on Monday and see if he'd be willing to do that. I like the idea of the hanging floor.

I need to get over my sewing machine phobia so I can try projects like that on my own and finish my bag/quilt conversion.

I should have searched their website better. I assumed that their custom tab was for their own gear. That is really what I'm looking for! I'm definitely going to call on Monday and I'm back on board with the SL2!

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction gents!

Edit: The more I think about it the more I like this idea. I've been leaning towards the SL2 for a while and it's comforting to know that I can use it on a few trips and have the ability to have it professionally modified as needed.

Thanks again!
