This summer I will be doing an internship with Outward Bound and I'm trying finish up my gear list. The last things I really need are a top and bottom shell layer. I've looked into a lot of lightweight shells but I am having a hard time finding the best ones. Any suggestions?
Read the state of the market report on lightweight wp/b rain jackets by Dave Chenault. He reviewed several sub 8oz jackets. Basically it came down to the Rab Pulse, Ozo Haglofs, and OR Helium II. The haglofs has been discontinued and the Helium and Pulse are basically the same except the helium is lighter with a slightly more durable face fabric (30d vs 15d) but a poor hood while the pulse has an excellent hood.
