Okay, so I received my new TT Moment DW about 15 minutes ago and did what must be done with a new tent, I tried to set it up. That failed because it seems the main arch pole is about a segment too long.

Does anyone have a Moment or Moment DW and can tell me how many segments his main arch pole has? Before you ask, I used the shorter one of the two poles. And yes, I could and would ask Henry if I lived in America. As it is I'm curios and impatient and don't want to fiddle around with the time difference.

EDIT: I heard from Tarptent and it seems I have the wrong pole. So forget the above. Should I delete it?

The arch pole of the Moment is 10'(305cm)
It is very easy to take a section out by pulling out the tip and undoing that knot.
So if your pole has a section that is the difference between 305cm and what you have in about 5 minutes you could have the right length.

Don't delete, mistakes do happen…

BTW, just for reference, I use a Dremel like tool to cut and then sandpaper to file down.
I have cut down a 20" pole to 15" sections but that is about the limit.
In this particular case I would cut 2×4"

Thanks, but I just heard from Cynthia that I would need to cut 8'' of the pole without the silver endings (i.e. the last pole section) and she offered to send me the right one.

I tried to take out a section but ended up either still too long or too short. As it should be if I need to cut 8'' off ;) Using a hand saw seems like a bad idea given that it gets pushed through pretty thin fabric and I don't have the right tools to cut aluminium without grating.

My Akto pole is good enough to take it for a spin this weekend, so all is well and I'm happy.
