UFK: unidentified fire kettle

My first thought was it is a backcountry boiler somewhere from there evolution, but it doesn't seem to match up:

My guess is it is a one-off knock-off of the back country boiler… anymore back-story you can share?

I found it in with the pots and pans in a thrift store!

Design wise I’d say a Thermette from New Zealand or Australia. But then the whole idea is old according to Wikipedia.

EDIT: Found it. It’s an Australian Eco-Bily. Bought from them judging by the look of lid and handle.

It does not look like a Thermette to me for several reasons.
All the ones I have seen were copper or painted tin.
This is the type I have used :

Other differences are : you don't remove the top to fill and they don't have those round holes.
I will go with the DIY suggestion.

Oh dear, an Aussie product.
I had a look at the where can I buy, nothing familiar but now that I think about it, Australian Geographic a few years ago had several camping products and one of those was a kettle of this kind.
So it is possible that I had fondled one of them…

There is no doubt that it is indeed an Eco-Billy. The small Eco-Billy is rated at 700ml and mine holds 600ml. A small variation in the placement of the inner cone would make it vary 100ml.

I hadn't put any water in it until now to measure the capacity. The simple pouring hole works surprisingly well.

I wonder how it made it all the way to Seattle, and unused at that? I have a sea kayak from New Zealand– that is a lot bigger package.
