I was in Seattle Fabrics today and found this new whistle in the hardware bins.
Made of black acetyl resin, weighs 3.4 grams (0.12 ounces), 45mm (1.75")long and 15mm (0.6") maximum outside diameter. It has a rubber ring and a slot for 3/4" webbing. One mounting method is to slip the tail end of a 3/4" strap through the slot, roll it up and secure it with the rubber band. It could be secured with the rubber band over a tail-less strap, hat band, headlamp strap, etc. It is a little lower in pitch than the typical sternum strap whistle.
