I just wanted to suggest a lightweight clock. "Hog Wild" toys dot com makes a little LCD clock + LED light.
Here is why I chose this instead of a full fledged digital trail timepiece.

– 8 grams
– $10, this is inexpensive, if I break it, I won't be upset.
– This is lighter than most of the multifunction digital watches.
– I don’t want a watch to get scraped up and catch on brush on my arm.
– Has LED light integrated.
– Most of the functionality of a multifunction watch is unnecessary for my trips.
I have a liquid compass, which doesn't need batteries. That with good map skills should be all you need.
An altimeter can be off and is changeable with the weather.
I don't really need timers / lap counters.
Pedometers state on the box themselves that they are between 70-95% accurate. Plus if you backtrack who can keep track of how far you’ve really gone.
– Waterproof
– Tiny, with hook for keychain.

Thanks for posting this. I've been using the heavier Hog Wild Pocket Watch (0.5 oz) because it had a steady white light. (The blinking light on the Watch Light wasn't useful.) I see they now have a solid white light version of the Watch Light. Great!

Note: the white LED light is not very bright. I can only read with it when the light is within 3 inches of the paper, and it's not bright enough to illuminate the ground when standing. But if you wake up in the night and need a bit of light that won't ruin your night vision or annoy your tentmate, this is a great solution. The light doesn't illuminate the clock, so if you want to see the clock you need to have something reflective handy. (I find that the inside of my Pepsi-G alcohol stove is sufficient.)

Yes, it is not super bright, and I got the steady instead of flashing light. I guess a good point is it could be better for your night vision not being as bright, and could serve as a backup to the photon leds, while you where changing a battery or so.
