I ran across this 12 oz. shoe in Zappos.com and wondered if anybody is familiar with it. It appears to be well suited to hiking with all mesh upper, impressively large toe bumper, and rand completely around the bottom. According to the write-up it is a running shoe built for the moderate over-pronator which simply means you land on the outside of your heel. A moderate over-pronator will wear out the outside edge of his heel first, as is the case with me. It also states that the shoe was developed in association with Army physical training, which, judging by the name, might mean the British Army. In any case, you can check it out at Zappos.com. (Search for UK Gear PT-03 SC)It costs $103.95 American.

Correction on the above post. Go to Zappos.com and search for "UK Gear" only, if you include the PT-03 SC, the site gets confused for some reason.
Or click here. OK, did my good deed for the day…
and over-pronation actually has nothing to do with how you land on your foot.
Almost all people land on the outside of the heel when walking, but over-pronation refers to how the foot rolls inwards as the weight is shifted forward and off the foot (to toe-off): an over-pronator shows a heavy wear pattern on the front inside part of the shoe – typcially you'll see a distinct lean towards the inside from below the arch to the big toe area of the shoe.
I over pronate on my right foot when running, but I don't overpronate when walking. I've found that shoes with ANY design to control overpronation result in a lot of twisted ankles for me, especially as the shoe wears down a little, as my foot is directed more and more to the outside edge.
