If you can find lightly used synthetic sleepings bags on craiglist and determine the insulation type you can use it to make some MYOG quilts. A little heavier than buying apex but cheap.
Lots of cheap options for lw shell fabrics for pretty cheap. I am making to kids quilts which will weigh about 24 oz each, good to about 5 c for about $25.
