Does anyone think it is a good idea to make a bivy that only goes up to the neck like a quilt? It would serve the same purpose. I sleep with a beenie on already and a bug net. One could sleep with their wind breaker hood on if it was real windy.

Foot box is easy, just refer to making a stuff sack with square bottom here:
The height of the sides should equal the total loft of your bag+pad and alittle extra. Width same idea.
