I love my MontBell Alpine Down No. 3 bag almost to death — but it does have one annoyance: zipper snag! Mine is the older 725FP model (the new 800 FP models now have a stiffer zipper guard).
So, my question: Does the WM Pod 30 snag easily? If the zipper truly operates smoothly… I might consider a switch; after all, I already carry a sleep pad, so why not enjoy the WM's equal warmth but lighter weight???
So, ye WM Pod owners out there, please let me know. Thanks.
Mine is super smooth. You need to do the little velco tab to keep it zipped cause it's so smooth.

Before I decide… any downsides to the Pod 30 that I should know about? I understand the bag emphasizes more on weight savings than roominess, but how does it feel to you? I'm 5'9" and I weigh 150lbs. I am also a side sleeper. Will I find this bag "roomy enough" (yeah, I know, the last question is a bit subjective)…

If the zipper on the Pod is anything like the zipper on the Megalight and Ultralight, this will be one of the areas of strongest performance of the bag. I can't snag the zipper on my Ultralight if I purposely try to!
The major downside of the Pod for me, as with any bag with an integrated pad, is the inability to sit up while in the bag. If you're a Montbell comfort fan, this might be an issue for you as well.
You mentioned the newer 800 fp bags have a guard. With the code 1J8-1-RXAMB the regular sleeping bag drops from $239.95 to $191.96 at backcountry.com. Maybe you could condsider buying another Alpine #3.
