For those who are always looking for non-BPA wide-mouth plastic bottles – I came across a light water bottle, 1 qt., with wide mouth, at Whole Foods – Evamor. FWIW.

How wide? Would it accept a Steripen Opti?
This one? If so, then it’s a bit wider than a Platy opening, but not really a wide mouth as compared to a standard Nalgene wide mouth.

App. 1 1/4 inch diameter.
"but not really a wide mouth as compared to a standard Nalgene wide mouth."
To be sure. But I know some folks were looking for bottles wider than the usual water bottle, but not as wide as a nalgene (like the old gatorade bottles). These would fill that bill.
I see. Gatorade.
On the separate topic of Steripen usage — I recall a phone conversation with Steripen where they discourage the use of Steripen for "narrow mouth" bottles like Platy's. And tall bottles, even more so. One needs to stir / agitate the water enough so that baddies can be sufficiently swirled about and "zapped".
A truly wide-mouth Nalgene will work. But even with the semi-wide bottle here — I believe one can buy Steripen's "concial" adapter to allow treating the bottled water upside down – the mother of all agitation.
Dougie: Good tip. I've been bumming that I didn't set aside more wide-mouthed Evian bottles before they went narrow-mouth. As an occasional caver and a frequent road-tripper, a Steripen isn't the only thing that needs to fit in a bottle, sometimes.
Sorry, TMI.
Wait, did gatorade go narrow mouth on us?
"Wait, did gatorade go narrow mouth on us?"
No, they didn't. It's just that their wide mouth isn't anywhere as wide as Nalgene's wide mouth. I think the best way to describe mouth sizes is simply to indicate the actual measurement (as Doug did). Prevents confusion.
Besides, I have been buying Gatorade powder for years, so I just keep re-using the old Gatorade bottles that I purchased way back when.
