Anyone use a Max Thermo 3/4 with a quilt? I have a Cocoon quilt on order and wanted to know if I could use this pad with it. Since the pad is so high would it cause more drafts? Is there any reason not to use it, or am I worrying unnecessarily? I am interested in using it without a bivy inside a Tarptent Rainbow. Would a bivy be necessary to use with this type of thick sleeping pad?
I don't think you'll have a problem. I use an Arc Alpinist in winter w/ a Torsolite over a RidgeRest. I haven't noticed any more drafts than w/ thinner pads, but I generally don't toss and turn a lot either.
