Been bp'in about a dozen times now…(this is what ive been looking for my whole life)and have gone enough times now to know that A. I like to tarp it and B. I need to get dual duty out my gear……so..can someone tell me a tarp (fitted or flat) that I can buy that will allow me to use it with a bug net for hot sweltering Texas summer nights.

Thanks!

Pretty much all of them now. There are cottage manufacturers that make inner nets for most style tarps. Look at MLD, Bear Paw, Six Moon Designs, Yama Mountain Gear, Oookworks (they're in the UK).

There's pretty much something for everyone now.

Travis..didnt come across Yama or Bear Paw in all my research so thanks for those. Also, i guess Im wanting to know of some systems that any of you guys use/have used that you approve of. Im wanting someting thats meant to be paired when you want it instead of a droopy bug net that "works" but not really meant to be mated for a clean fit..hope this makes sense.

If you buy a tarp and net from the same manufacturer, they will be designed to fit with each other properly. Unless, of course, if you get a giant 2-3person net and a small 1 person tarp! Or try to use an A-frame bug net with a pyramid tarp.

Not to dodge the question, but pretty much everything from those companies are "approved" of here. You'll just find variations in dimensions and weight.

MLD arguably has the highest quality stuff. John from Bear Paw will do custom stuff, and is a nice guy. I've never ordered from Yama, but I'm eyeballing the Stratiform III tarp myself. Oh yeah, and HMG Gear. Forgot about those guys. I've got one of their ECHO 1 systems. Very nice product.

The whole droopy bug net thing is disappearing, unless you badly mismatch the parts.

I think the best thing, instead of going through all the permutations here, is to find a tarp that YOU like and then ask for suggestions on an inner. Or find a combo that you like, and ask about it here.

Two common pairings:

MLD DuoMid with MLD Solo Inner net

Any flat tarp with the MLD Bug Bivy

You could also look at SMD Wild Oasis or the Mid tarps from MLD can be made with a sewn perimeter net.
