I'm looking at windshirts (obvious from my other thread) and I'm wondering if a wind vest would accomplish a lot of the warmth without as much of the bulk? I'm sure a full wind jacket would be warm-er, but if others have had success improving warmth and comfort with a vest I'll opt to lose the sleeves.

I like vests for running. I have a couple with mesh back panels for better breathability. One is a pullover with a deep front zip and the other is full zip. Great for ventilation.
If your goal is warmth though, I'd stick with a long sleeve version with a hood. There are some really low bulk versions available.
