I've found a few threads about these booties but haven't seen much about how durable they are. Can they be worn outside of the tent for short periods? It seems many love the goosefeet socks and waterproof liner but that option is 100 bucks. Id also like something that could be worn around the house and the wm booties seem to have a sole that will save me from breaking my neck. Any feedback appreciated!

As much as I do love my GooseFeet (and boy, do I love my GooseFeet!), I'm not sure a down bootie would ever be a good choice for walking-around footwear. The nature of down is that it's fluffy and has a lot of loft…and a light nylon is going to have a nice soft hand (meaning slippery…). Not just on the bottom, but all around the inside.
Sooo…
Not sure any down bootie will be all that safe to strut around in, given the nature of, well, being a down bootie.
Ok i see your point. I take it you wear yours in the tent only? Not evn when sitting around at camp to get your feet out of your wet or smelly shoes?
I did try them with the overbooties (again, the GooseFeet, not the WM), but wow do you slip around in them. It's entirely functional in terms of sitting around cooking, chatting with friends, etc, or a late night potty run; I've also worn them around my house on some chilly mornings while reading BPL…
But honestly, I wouldn't want to have to walk around a lot, or on terribly uneven surfaces…but they are soooo worth it if you want warm toes
Thanks. I know we're talking about different brands but I went ahead and ordered the flash booties. We'll see how they hold up.
spoke to soon, can't get them shipped to Canada and MEC the WM dealer doesn't carry them . . .
“…can't get them shipped to Canada …”
That’s too bad.
I too love the WM down booties. I like them in bed on a cold night. I like them in the morning walking around camp. And I can do that because they fit in my footwear. I can hike in them for a little while — until my feet burn up.
Good luck finding that UL down bootie.
