Did not think I would be ready to get back out there so soon after the last two trips, but…
I putting this invite out to the usual suspects. You should have an idea if this is you or not by now.
Want to explore up on the ridge. Want to camp at least one night at Bear Hollow Camp on Rattlesnake Ridge.
So start at Saddle Mountain TH.
Would like to go in March. Minus tides and New Moon on the weekend of the 9th. Afternoon low tide. This is good if we want to go
from Miller Flat to Buck Ridge.
Crapshoot weatherwise as always out there.
Go!
Feb 16, 2013 at 6:03 pm #1955096Ken,
I'm available.
Depends on the dates and my school schedule.

Feb 22, 2013 at 8:19 pm #1957596Frank are you living up here yet?
Matt wants in. Bring raingear and a bear canister.
Weekend of the 9th OK?
Does anyone need a canister?
Feb 22, 2013 at 8:58 pm #1957601I have a Garcia, if necessary. We can carry two persons food in one can if my little Bareboxer Contender isn't enough. Uh, just the Bareboxer should be fine.
Feb 22, 2013 at 9:27 pm #1957606@Ken, I won't be moving up there until August.
I will let you know if I can go. Later this week.
I've got a bear can.

Feb 28, 2013 at 5:08 pm #1959849So it looks like just the three of us are set for the week after next.
Do we want to stay on the ridge?
Saddle Mountain Trailhead on Friday.
What time do you think you can be there?
Feb 28, 2013 at 5:14 pm #1959854Ken,
I'm talking carpooling over with Matt. Trying to figure out the details.
I wouldn't mind staying up on the ridge, I haven't explored any other places along the Lost Coast besides the beach.

Mar 1, 2013 at 5:55 am #1960054Ken,
I turned down a trip for this weekend, but I'd like to hook up sometime on a trip up north here sometime. I told Paige it was too far to go to Shelter Cove again. Our NorCal group is doing the nobo/sobo thing again. I just hate driving so much getting there, then the long drive back, 5 hours. Its been awhile since I was in the Alps and Marbles. I'm headed to CO in August for my annual bp vacation.
DuaneMar 1, 2013 at 6:01 am #1960056Paige is wonderful. But the same trips time after time. I hear you on the driving. Trailhead is less than 60 miles from my door and still takes 2 hours to get there.
Have a great seson Duane. I'll keep my eyes open for stoves.
Mar 1, 2013 at 7:14 am #1960069Ridge sounds great. When would you like to try to meet at Saddle Mtn TH? It looks like it will take quite a bit to get there after leaving Ettersburg Rd.
Mar 1, 2013 at 3:29 pm #1960237So ridge it is.
I will work Friday morning, then head out. Marc and Rick are always first to arrive everywhere. So Matt what time do you think you can get to Garberville? Then add an hour and a half. That should be a realistic time to get from town to the trailhead.
Driving note. Be careful at the intersection with Ettersburg Rd. It's a funky right turn after a bend to te left right after a crest in the road, Surprise! 13 miles from 101. So be on the lookout. Ettersburg is basically one white bldg. on the left side of the road.
If you need more detailed instructions I can do that.
Mar 1, 2013 at 7:19 pm #1960323Looks like about 4 hours to Garberville. Are you driving?
Mar 1, 2013 at 7:38 pm #1960330I am driving, yes.
Mar 1, 2013 at 8:11 pm #1960339Weather forecast looks promising. Don't forget the sunscreen.
Mar 1, 2013 at 8:19 pm #1960344Sunscreen, bear can, bivy, extra warm clothes and spare sleeping bag in car, permethrin on pants.
Frank and I are planning on leaving the City around 6:00 AM, Friday.
Mar 1, 2013 at 8:20 pm #1960345AM or PM?
Mar 1, 2013 at 8:20 pm #1960346I can't wait. It would be nice if we had blue skies.
Mar 1, 2013 at 8:22 pm #1960347AM
Mar 2, 2013 at 1:40 am #1960392Be sure to post a trip report, the wife and I are headed down that way at the end of March.
Mar 2, 2013 at 8:17 am #1960471Ken,
Do you know if fires are allowed. I want to try out my Caldera Ti-Tri.
Mar 2, 2013 at 4:20 pm #1960675@ Frank Yes on fires. Your backcountry permit doubles as a fire permit there also.
Mar 8, 2013 at 5:18 am #1963062Off we go this morning. Just the three of us.
