So admitedly I stored my Golite Poncho (1.76 oz silnylon) stuffed for a while, but I've had it hanging from a clothes hanger for a couple of weeks, but it is still very wrinkled.
I'm guessing ironing or the old tumble in the dryer is out of the question with silnylon, so what do I do to flatten out my poncho?
While I'm not a wrinkle-phobe …. especially for something like a poncho but I HAVE ironed silnylon b4 cutting/sewing … with the iron on the "nylon" setting (the lowest setting on our iron).
Try lightly wetting it and hanging it to dry. I've noticed this worked for me before with tarps and rainflies. It comes out of the stuff sack wrinkly, gets wet (rain, dew, etc.) and then the drying effect works kind of like a make shift ironing.
I'll try wetting it first, I realize this is probably more an asthetic concern than a functional one.
Do you plan on wearing it to a formal event? That would look sharp if you wore it to a wedding!
I have no experience with silnylon. My question is: can a silnylon poncho or tarp be folded and then rolled for storage. I do this with my 40 year old REI nylon poncho and wrinkles are not a big issue. Is the silnylon more prone to holding wrinkles?
