Waiting for end of season price drop?

Maybe have a chat to Brett. He has a post going in the Gear Deals forum for Montbell bags. He's in Japan and seems to camp out in the Montbell shop.

He's very up front about what he charges, and his post and handling is very similar to what any of the big guys in the States charge.

I've never bought from him, but he's always been very hepful about stuff I've asked him about. Never heard any bad feedback.

MontBell just recently introduced a new line of 800 fill power down bags — so you will likely find the older 725 fp down bags on sale by googling around.

Looking at the temp / weight specs, differences between MontBell's 800 vs. 725 fp bags are minimal.

Buy the MB now if you find one.

I checked out 4-5 websites that carry Montbell and all the 2006 #5 longs are gone.

Sundog still has the #5 regular and the #2 long 2006 725 down bags on clearance.

If you miss the 5, get a 4 or 3, not much difference in weight, and that weight is more down. It's all good.

I have a 3 long, 7 long, and an alpine 7; I do not think I would ever go back to a non-stretch baffled bag. I get more than 4 inches double layer loft from my #7 due in part to the circumfrential baffles.

If anyone wants one of the last 725FP #1, I found one here in Japan for $239..

I just purchased one of the newer 800 fill UL super stretch #3 bags for my wife. I got it at Backcountry.com with the 20% coupon that was mentioned earlier today.
Came out to $215.
