You mean I’m not the only geek that has always entered humidity and temperature data into his journal?
Oh boy!

For about 15 years we have used a unit that Radio Shack used to sell that records temp and humidity highs and lows as well as displays current values.
Kinda heavy though, and I am glad to see some new lighter units out there!

"Easy enough to check at home. Take your temperature throughout the day with your probe thermometer."

I assume you should do this in private…..

You could use a headphone extension cord to measure the temperature outside your shelter – see the video where they measure the temperature outside a window.

Got two from Walmart.

Stuck one on my office window almost a month ago, still going strong.

Pulled the suction cup off the other for latest trip, but didn't have time to crack the shell before leaving. Plugged in battery evening before I left, put it in a snack-sized Ziploc, and off we went. Layed it on the ground or on a rock just outside my tent each evening.

Very interesting results. I felt colder on some nights that were several degrees F warmer according to the thermometer. I think the difference was a slight breeze, despite being inside TT Moment (old style).

Also kinda scary seeing how hot it gets inside HMG Windrider white cuben fiber backpack on sunny days. 94 F max reading on a day the nearest weather station says 64 F.

This thermometer will stay in my gear list.

I picked up the accurite digital model from Walmart and removed the suction cup but kept the case and put a carabiner through it. Thoroughly enjoying knowing temps – helped me realize that my plan to use my 40 degree bag in 46 degree low temps went seriously awry in 33 degree temps! Helps figure out the real effectiveness of a sleep system.

But I'm sort if a data driven guy…
