I just cleaned my Mountainsmith Wraith backpack and need to waterproof it. I used to use Nikwax but it has a horrible problem of making the fabric and straps 'slippery'. It's so bad the straps keep slipping from the buckles. Is there any good water repellent product that doesn't cause this?

Fluorocarbon based DWRs, such as Grangers, ReviveX, etc., will last approximately 40% longer than a wax based DWR like Niwax as well as be less slippery.

. . . that is what I suspected. I'll give one of those products a try. They are probably cheaper too.
