I haven’t been on BPL for a while, but I attended the recent GGG, and I got pretty motivated to get back on. :) I had a lot of unemployment in 2012, but hopefully 2013 will be a better year.
I haven’t done a write up for a while, but some of you may know of my backpacking stove addiction, er, hobby. To that end, another one of my write ups, this one on the Bobcat stove system from Flat Cat Gear.
I’ve been using the Bobcat stove system for my serious trips for the last half year or so (September ’12 to present) plus some testing specific day hikes before that.
I’ve found it to be a good system: reliable, stable, and easy to use. I particularly like that everything fits inside the pot, which makes things pretty handy.

This article is actually part I of a series. Next in the series (part II) will cover how to use the system to bake muffins out on the trail.
Part III will cover a “universal” alcohol stove, an alcohol stove that will burn isopropyl alcohol well in addition to the standard fuel alcohols (generally methanol or ethanol or a blend of the two).
