Planning a trip next weekend to Grayson Highlands and the park ranger is telling me there is likely going to be enough snow to warrant snowshoes which I do not currently own. Could use some suggestions here.
I also suppose I could use an eval on my layering system.
Currently I'm hiking in
Montrail Mountain Masochists light wool liners, and a Goretex sock.
OR gaiters and Arcteryx nylon pantsBas layer is silk weight Icebreaker Wool LU
Silk weight Icebreaker wool top
Patagonia R1 jacket
montane slipstream windshirt
Montbell ex light down jacket
Goose feet down hood
OR rain jacket.
Zpacks Cuben rain pantsI'm thinking I need to pick up soft shell bottoms, new hard shell top, and a pair of gloves and the snow shoes before my trip and could use input.
Sleeping wise I'm carrying 200wt tops and bottoms, heavy wool socks, and my goose feet hood. Plus carrying a 0 degree EE RevX quilt and a thermarest Xtherm pad.
