Sawyer + GiegerRig Hydration Bladder

Sorry Ive never used the GiegerRig before so I have no useful information on that. Im just curious on why Evernew bags are NEVER available?! I dont know enough when it comes to production and distribution but why dont they just make some more freaking bags? It always seems like people are looking for them…

The Evernew factory was apparently damaged in the Tsunami…that's why you can't seem to get evernew Ti pots, either. They are producing some just not on the same scale they were before. I do think that we didn't necessarily do them any favors by realizing the evernew bladders fit with the sawyer filter, either…..

Are hoses on hydration bladders a standard size across the board for major manufacturers (i.e. Pladypus, Camelback, ext)? I don't mean fittings into bladders, I just mean hose size.

Sawyer has an older filter called the 3 way that is designed to be connected to the hose of a bladder and you can suck water right through it easily. Works well. More recently sawyer came out with two end caps with hose barb fittings for the sawyer squeeze filter that allow you to connect it as a bladder in line filter. I suspect the older 3 way filter will eventually be discontinued and replaced by the squeeze filter with the in line filter end caps.

Most of the bladders I have seen (camelback, pladypus, and MSR) have all used the same size hoses.

I'm aware of the inline filters available and the Sawyer Squeeze can also be used inline as well. I keep usually carry bout 2 liters of water when I hike and I use Klean Kanteen for water use (27oz + 40oz). I use these for durability reasons only and I can boil water in them if I have to in some unusual circumstance. Not that most soft bottles aren't durable, but I'd say that stainless steel is more so and I'd rather not worry about it; it's more for a peace of mind. I want to use the GiegerRig with Sawyer for water purification only. Not using the GiegerRig for my only drinking system and means to carry water. I just want the flexibility to decon water for a group or hang from a tree for shower if need be. I was just wondering if anyone was pairing these 2 currently. I ordered the 2L GiegerRig yesterday and I will post pics and review of the pairing incase someone wants to duplicate it. I just figured that people pair the Sawyer Squeeze with a Platypus Big zip for a gravity system. This is the same idea except in theory with the GiegerRig, I shouldn't have to hang and use gravity since I can pressurize the system. Also in theory, get a better flow rate due to pressure in GiegerRig over using gravity.
