Did you pick up the Patagonia Down Sweater Vest Russell? If so, what do you think of it?

Nope, never took the plunge on this one. I can't seem to find a single review outside of a few blurbs on various interent retail sites that don't seemed to be too concerned with lightweight backpacking functionality. I'm still looking for an insulated vest to shave a few ounces. I know all about the Montbell Thermawrap and down vest. The Paty vest seems to be available a little cheaper from a few sources.

Assuming the construction is similar to the Down Sweater (not vest) the double layer loft should be about 1.7 inches. This is similar to the Mont Bell UL inner down jacket (1.6in) and better than most light synthetics (micro puff 1.3 inches) I don't have any first had experience with it though, so I can't vouch for these numbers.

I was making a similar assumption, based in part by the down sweater review here on BPL, which intially piqued my interest. I think I'm looking for something a little warmer than the Montbell Down inner vest. The Paty sounds ideal for in camp warm-ups in the 30-50 degree range and to supplement my JRB Shenandoah quilt. I'd rather go with down over synthetic and the vest definitely has the feature set I'm interested in (full zip, handwarmer pockets, high collar).

I was looking at it to supplement a Patagonia Micro Puff for two season mountaineering. I think that would be a warm enough combination when coupled with a Houdini and a rain jacket. Optinions? I have always brought way too much in the way of clothes and am trying to get lighter while still staying warm enough.
