Has anyone seen this? I was browsing the new inventory at LL Bean (I'm an active sales rep) and I stumbled across this.

Excellent space to weight ratio but my initial elation subsided considerably after I quickly realized there is no vestibule. What are everyone's thoughts on this?

I agree. Without the vestibule, it limits the tents use in rainy/wet weather.

What I don't get, is why didn't they include it? Their trail weight is right around 1.5 pounds and for another couple of ounces they could have offered it and stayed well under 2 pounds.

Maybe they were more focused on the packed weight of 2 lbs?

Also, they could have been targeting a specific audience. The design is reminiscent of old boy scout tents. So, maybe they wanted to capitalize on the nostalgia factor and having an included vestibule would have altered the look of the tent to the point it lost that nostalgia factor.

I like the looks of this tent. One thought is the tent is so spacious for one that all your gear would fit in it so a vestibule would not be necessary? But I do agree that it would have been nice to have one.

I'm in the market for a new shelter and this is a contender. I'm 75" tall and the floor specs out at 90" long. I figure since I don't sleep completely stretched out I'll have some room at my feet when I have a traveling companion or this will be my Taj when I’m solo.

Could drop an oz or two by getting rid of the line locks and improving the guy lines.

Pros for me: better shelter for when I'm expecting torrential downpours compared to a tarp/bivy combo. Price and weight are difficult to beat for a mass produced silnylon shelter. Taped seams!

Cons: Doesn't look like the design would be all that resilient in a windstorm but there is a possibility of guying the fly lower.

Is it just me, or is that tent kinda ugly? Looks like wind resistence would be poor. OTOH, it does look spacious….can see why they went without a vestibule.

The overhang at the front, called a "full eve" by BA, doesn't look like it would be enough to cook under.

Bringing it forward about a foot might be an interesting MYOG project, especially if the design allowed pitching with or without using the eve, which could be rolled back and secured if not wanted.

This wouldn't help much in high wind, but having a place outside the tent to cook without being directly under the rain can be very nice.

Inside the tent, all those guy-lines should be an asset in high winds, though.
The ventilation, much needed in a single wall, looks great.

I purchased my BA Scout from HumbleOutdoors for $260. I think Bin Agnes really did a great job with this tent. It is so light. I packed for my last trip in a minimalist fashion, and the BA Scout was a big part of it.

there was a thread on this not long ago. someone bought it and returned it. seemed like the rear pole being inside encroached on the actual usable floor space inside
