I Currently use a HH with weather shield. I can use it year round here in TN aslong as I put a pad in the weather shield. but it is becoming the heaviest setup in my pack. so I ordered a Golite poncho to serve as my fulltime rain gear and I was hoping to get it to serve me for a year round shelter. here is what I have…what do I need… being summer now price isn't too much of an issue, I just want to shave pounds for winter and now I can get good deals on winter gear.
Current setup.
Golite poncho tarp with silline and 5 UL stakes. (13.9oz in stuff sack)
Golite Ground tarp.(3oz)
Blue CC foam pad, cut down to torso length (8.6oz)
Slumberjack Sarugo Down bag x2.(56oz)(I carry 2 so I can use one for summer and 2 for cold weather. I use one as a bag and one as a quilt…I like this setup and want to continue using it.)
Would a Bivy be the next choice? what kind would work?
Thanks for all the help
Tommy
