What would work better:
A quilt inside of a Montbell Super Stretch #2 ( quilt would be a Golite ultra 20)
or
A quilt outside the Super Stretch. ( quilt would be Nunatac Arc Specialist)
?
Is the possible compression of the quilt on the inside worse than the loose quilt over the sleeping bag?

The Golite is small, my size. Both the Nunatak quilt and the Superstretch are larger.

I don't know how you could possibly get a quilt inside a sleeping bag without massively compromising its loft. Use some small clips to attach your quilt to your sleeping bag if you find it shifts too much.

If you can somehow fit a quilt inside your sleeping bag without the dimensions of the sleeping bag compressing it, you should choose the denser layer, if there is a clear difference, (which should suffer less compression from the weight on top of it) to go on the inside.

I went with the Golite Ultra 20 inside the Montbell SS#2 and it worked great!
