10th Mtn Hut Trips

Thanks Paul for the hut info. Been wanting to do that for ages. Better do it soon B/C on April 4 I'll be the big "seven oh".

I assume all huts have their own propane stoves, no? i.e. Why would they let people use their own stoves in a hut with all the attendant risk?

Eric,

The 10th Mtn huts do all have propane burners. The ones I've been to all have had 4 burners (the groups cook in shifts) and also a wood burning cook stove, which you certainly can use, but are mostly used for baking deserts. The only reason to bring your own stove is for emergency use melting water. So far, I've never been caught short of the hut, but it does happen. We travel as if we might so we bring 1 or 2 stoves depending on the size of the group.
