I usually wear wool gloves backpacking, but I'm thinking about getting some leather-palmed windproof fleece gloves for mountaineering. My concern is weather I can still grab the pot off the stove without melting them. Anyone tried it?

Hot pots do melt fleece.
A while back, a fellow adult Scouter wanted to grab a pot from a campfire. Without thinking, I tossed him my fleece gloves. The poor fellow never even realized that he melted the outer fleece layer of one glove. Oh well. Lesson learned is that fleece gloves aren't the best tool for grabbing a hot pot.
As long as you grab the pot with the leather parts of the glove you might do fine. The fleece may get holes in them from hot pots.
