Is the MEC Dual Degree Jacket similar or as good as the Patagonia Down Sweater?

This jacket is on clearance right now, and seems to be very similar to Patagonia Down Sweater. I would love to use this as an insulation layer. From the ask and answer section, it says that the jacket has a dual-zip side pocket where you can stuff the jacket. The weight is only 7g more than the Patagonia down sweater, which seems to have very good reviews. It has 800 fill down, which I understand is of a high quality.

I think such a jacket would be useful for me on cold evenings in the mountains.

Is there any (obvious) reason not to buy it?

that jacket has a mix of PL1 and down … so its a hybrid fill jacket

the MEC light degree hoody is close to the patagucci down sweater

that said the dual degree should work for insulation regardless

Sometimes MEC gear comes in overweight. So if down to the ounce is critical than I would email them and get them to actually weigh it for you.

Other than that the Duel Degree or Light degree should both be warmer than the down sweater as they contain more down, in the 4 oz rather than the 3 oz range.
