I used my Golite Shangri-la 3 for snow camping, normally with 2 people. Lots of room. This time I plan to use it with 3 people. Any tips on setting it up? I could move the pole to the side, but if I dig a pit…wouldn't work well. What other ways have people setup the SL3?

IF you are not using the mosquito net, the best option is to not use the center pole. What I do is pitch the tarp between two relatively close trees, and tie a tight parachord line between the two trees higher than than the top of the tent, then tie the top of the tent to the line going across (of course you would use this technique only if you could not find a good spot directly under a tree branch tie the top to directly).

If you and your crew are also using trecking poles, you can tie two or three of them together and hit the top of the tent at an angle to make room that way.

One bit of advise if you will have three people in the tent is that you will have heavy condensation unless you leave the bottom vented at the most wide open position. if condensation builds up anyway, just keep from hitting the sides and it should just follow the tarp down to the ground instead of falling on you while you sleep.

Thanks for the tip. You string a rope between 2 trees. Do you have another rope that attaches to the loop on the SL3 and then to the rope between the 2 trees, or do you string it through the loop before tying to the tree?
