I'd like to order one of these today, but I can't decide which! That's where you come in :) I need your suggestions, oh wise ones.
All hikes will be 3 season – no heavy snow (hopefully). I hike mostly with my 5'2 110lb girlfriend. The DuoMid's size is plenty for us, but the pole in the middle really bothers me. I've thought about trying to use the inverted V, but it seems like fitting a square peg in a round hole and just isn't really what a pyramid shelter is designed to do.
I go on solo trips as well, and I occasionally bring along hiking partners approximately my size (6'0 180lb).
I have a Sil DuoMid now with the Duo InnerNet. The size is fine for my girlfriend and I, but would be a bit tight for a full-sized friend and I. I was planning to use the YMG Bugnet 2.0 with the Grace Duo.
I like that I could just hang out under a Grace Duo in the rain, and then set up the BugNet when it's time for bed. I only really want to be in the DuoMid with another person when I'm ready to sleep.
I guess you could tell that I'm leaning toward the Grace Duo a bit due to its versatility. For solo use, I'd bring either the MLD Serenity Net or the Bristlecone Bivy. Site selection is also important for me. I think the DuoMid requires a much larger footprint.
