yep. found this at marshall's for $9.99. 4 in 1 fleece balaclava by geoffrey bean.
this thing synches down to nothing, just like my melanzana hoody with a drawstring closure system. synches down tight for sleeping and you can open it up wide for eating and hiking. it comes with 3 huge cam locks (triple redundancy?) that are easily replaced. available in both white and black.
.
Dec 10, 2012 at 11:43 am #1934540Nice find Adam. For those that can't source one locally, search the web for 4-way fleece hood. It's a military item and often sold at surplus blowout prices. For example: http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/2-us-military-surplus-4-way-fleece-hoods.aspx?a=935749
I've also seen 6-way or 6-in-1 versions offered for under $10 online.
They all look like they'd work great for winter.

Dec 10, 2012 at 7:28 pm #1934656I have one from OR which is made of gore windstopper and all that technical crap. But the one I love is the Costco brought $7 balaclava which is perfect and feels so good.
Dec 10, 2012 at 8:35 pm #1934667Nice find. How do you say "balaclava" anyway? As in bala-clava? Or, ba-laclava?
Dec 11, 2012 at 2:40 pm #1934808I say baklava.
It makes people hungry when you say "It's getting cold. I think I'll pull out the baklava" :-)Dec 11, 2012 at 2:42 pm #1934810Oh, and yes, a great item for people who have little hair on their heads.
I do love the hood on my Malanzana fleece for this reason.Dec 12, 2012 at 5:49 am #1934957How do you say "balaclava"….http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/balaclava?s=t

Dec 12, 2012 at 10:25 am #1935007"Where does it get its name" for 10 points.
According to link above: from Balaklava, a seaport in S Crimea, in the S Ukraine, on the Black Sea: scene of English cavalry charge against Russians (1854), celebrated in Tennyson's poem Charge of the Light Brigade.
