Under the DuoMid: 2 bivies or an InnerNet?

I'll be using the DuoMid for hikes both with my girlfriend or a friend and by myself. I'd say 60% of the time 2 people would be sleeping inside.

So, I've been wondering, should I have us both sleep in bivies under the DuoMid, or get the Duo InnerNet?
I know that I need bug protection, but a full bivy kind of seems like overkill under a DuoMid.

* 2x Bivy:
pro: More versatile – I could use under a small tarp as well
pro: I can bring just the 1 bivy with me when I go on solo trips, saving weight over the InnerNet
con: probably a little more expensive, depending on the bivies
con: less breathable, another layer of fabric

* InnerNet:
pro: Better for snuggling if we use the inverted V pole setup
pro: Room to sit up while still having bug protection
pro: Girlfriend prefers the idea of a net-tent to a bivy
cons: extra weight when I go on solo trips
cons: makes the interior space of the DuoMid a bit smaller

It seems that 1 bivy and an InnerNet is the best option. I'm considering the Katabatic bivy as of right now, but am still looking.

Are there factors I'm not considering? I'd like to hear your thoughts! Thanks. :)

You can get both a MLD Solo Innernet and Duo Innernet for about the cost of two Katabatic Bivy's. Seems like getting two innernets should be an additional option.

Or get the Duo Innernet plus a bivy. (Whoops, looking back maybe this is already your thought. . .)

Or get just the Duo Innernet and see how it works solo, with plan to get a bivy or Solo Innernet if you don't like soloing with the Duo Innernet.

I own the duomid, the duo innernet, and two bivys. I found that when sleeping 2 in the duomid I prefer to use two bivys because it is much roomier than the innernet. the innernet really sucks up the space inside the duomid. The bivy option also allows me to carry less weight when going solo.

The DuoMid, or any pyramid this size, is less than ideal for two. Especially two that may want to snuggle. If you use the center pole, rather than an a-frame double pole, then you have a pole in the middle that screams “my side – your side.” Nice when you’re with a buddy (especially one’s with questionable love lives that just downed half a pint of Yukon Jack), not-so-nice when your girlfriend/wife planned on sharing body heat to enjoy the crisp mountain air.

Also, if it’s raining, the poor sap that’s on the door side is going to get wet when the door is opened. Not a little wet like some ill designed domes, but a lot wet like a five foot sheet of nylon is now missing wet.

I used a DuoInner for me and my son (he’s two) under a DuoMid on a couple of trips last summer and it works great, but this setup would not be my choice for trips with buddies or my wife.

One thing to consider is that a bivy adds warmth to your sleeping system where an inner net would not.

That said, for a couple, I would think that an inner net would be the better option.
