Montbell Sleeping Bags; seizing question?

I'd like to seize a couple of them myself…kidding. I've heard of 5'11" people doing just fine with a regular sized Montbell bag.

I am 5'9" so the regular fits me just fine. When talking to a MB rep one time, he seemed pretty clear about 5'10" being the dividing line. One inch difference is not a lot, and I bet some people can get away with it, especially if they sleep with their legs bent a bit, etc. But if you sleep straight (etc. back sleeper) — it may be a bit annoying kicking against the bottom tip of the bag. In that case, I would say go for the Long size. You'll have more space — including space to dry clothes, keep batteries warm, etc. at the footend — and when you don't need all that extra space, you can close part — or all — of it off by tightening the foot adjuster. A bit more weight, but more comfort and more flexibility…

I own three MBs, two longs and one regular. I am between 5'9" and 5'10", and regular is right at the limit for me. I enjoy the room and width of the longs (example, up to 75" in the shoulder area, more than any other single bag I know of)
Get the long, its worth the extra couple ounces.

thanks for your sound advice. I will go for the long. We will use the bag for a year long backpacking, climbing and travelling trip so some extra comfort will be appriciated.
And the increase in weight is not dramatic and if it gets too cold there is more room for extra clothing.

I just received a MB down SS #7. I'm only 6'1" and believe me there isn't much left when I stretch out. That being the case I think you would probably be too tall for a regular. Love the bag and the "SS" which I had doubts about when I ordered it. I never tried it out first.
