I recently purchased a Snow Peak Litemax stove(on sale at Sports Chalet $35) and noticed the base of the stove gets very hot. I checked my Soto stove and it stays very cool at the base, almost the same as the canister temp. I know the pot supports are in direct contact with the flame and is possibly transferring heat to the base but it seems quite hot. Is this normal? It was a display model so I didn't know if possibly the o ring was possibly not sealing correctly or there is a problem with the stove?
