IMHO you aren't gaining much coverage. What you are gaining is headroom.

Did you get it new from MLD? If you did maybe you can get Ron to exchange it for the Duo.

For $20.00 more you'll gain some coverage and only add 1.7 ounces in weight.

Unfortunately it was not new, I picked it up used. I just set it up. Looks like a gain a bit of coverage if I sacrifice headroom but not a ton. This might not be worth the money but I'll wait and see.

If I'm doing the math correctly you're gaining 9 square feet of coverage. The problem lies in the fact that it consists of two right triangles with a base of 1 foot and a height of 9 feet and a hypotenuse of 9.0554 feet.

Are the measurements that I copied and pasted from MLD the "covered area" when pitched "A" frame style? If that's the case then sacrificing some head room will gain you a bit more coverage.

Thanks for the math Newton. I've never got wet under my MYOG tarp but I have often wished for a tad more space to work with when its raining and I want to pack up, cook dinner etc. That little big of extra might or might not make a noticable difference. Since its a used tarp anyway I'll probably just keep it until I get a chance to try it in some rain. On the other hand, even used its a bit pricey so I might go back to my good old $40 MYOG tarp.
