On Monday I received a Z1 pack from zpacks.com. The pack fully pimped out has these features:

    Side compression straps,
    Bottom compression straps,
    Sternum strap,
Daisy chain on the shoulder strap,
    zpack shoulder strap pouch,
zpack map case on the belt,
zpack snack bag on the belt,
    Self installed shockcord bottle holder,
    7.8 oz. fully tricked out.

Customer service was excellent and the craftsmanship is very good.

I have not had it out, but have packed it with an actual load and it was as comfortable as a sack with shoulder straps can be. I am very pleased.

I've been web shopping for a less than 8 oz pack based on the reviews I've read here.

The Z1 is on my short list. They say it can carry up to 20 lb. Do you think that is a reasonable load?

I'm working on lightening up all my gear, but don't want to lose the capability to carry many 8-10 days of food/fuel (maybe up to 12 lb) on first day out.

    Thanks for the good info.

Just thought I would add that I bought the shoulder pouches and some of the spectra/dacron cord. I would highly recomend both products. The cord is especially light and strong. I also recieved my shipment 2 or 3 days after I ordered. Great service!

    George,

The pack is tolerable with 20# load. Comfortable with 15#.

I have not had it out yet but I forcast the max I can carry is 2.5 quarts of water and 2 nights food.
