So I just picked up a Rab Cirrus windshirt on some sort of freak sale over at prolitegear.com. Apparently being a season old, only in XL, and a near-neon green color meant instead of $100-120 I paid half that. The better news though? My perennially difficult to clothe arms actually fit inside the sleeves of the jacket! Oh happy day!!

For anyone cursed with wearing dress shirts with a 36" sleeve, the Cirrus is a solid bet (at least in size XL). The torso is cut a tad short, maybe 1-1.5" shorter than I'd prefer, but is made up for by the fact that it has a drop-tail which is at least long enough to cover the upper 4" of my pants. Circumference-wise it's definitely a slim-fit euro affair. I can JUST barely fit my also-new Eddie Bauer First Ascent Downlight jacket under it, albeit with 2" of it hanging out the bottom (EB FA is an XLT). Not that I expect to ever wear that combo since the Downlight is fairly windproof. But figured I would speak to the issue. I look like a dayglo sausage in the combo; quite hilarious.

Lastly, sure it's been said before but the jacket is very well made. The A-line pockets are well placed and have exceptional tiny little zipper pulls (a weird thing to feel warrants the term "exceptional" but does). Lastly but certainly not least, I had seen several reviews of the Cirrus that noted it didn't stuff down very small due to stuffing into one of the (large for a jacket of this kind) pockets. I was VERY pleasantly surprised to find that Rab included a tiny little pertex stuffsack (a standalone) inside one of the pockets. Great little surprise!

We'll see if this thing lives up to all the windshirt hype. I'm willing to give it a shot, that's for sure. Hopefully I won't shred the thing though, because it feels pretty delicate.

I'll post some pics if anyone is interested, btw. Just speak up.

Hey Alex,

I'd like to see it, but only if you put the FA on under. That word imagery cracked me up!
