Where the heck is the PM box around here?

Fun members here but this board design is crap-o-la. And I thought TGRs board was unintuitive….

That's the only way to check PM's?

    Thx,

You can't check what you have sent.

The forum technology here is very outdated.

What is the reason for having an old style forum?
    Is it expensive to upgrade?
would we lose all our posts?

Are they working on an upgrade?

The forum technology is pretty outdated and every other free forum in existence seems to use better forum software. The search technology is also pretty poor and makes it harder to accurately find good threads that have useful information.

The enthusiastic members on the forum kind of make up for the search issue. You don't need the best search function because everyone wants to discuss the questions you ask even if they've been discussed a million times. I don't think I've ever seen UTFSE.

My understanding (which is not necessarily complete or correct) is that the forum software was a custom creation, written especially for this site. And since it wasn't derived from any of the commonly available off-the-shelf solutions, there is no easy upgrade path; while it might be possible to preserve the content, it would be neither quick nor cheap. Thus, it's pretty unlikely that we will ever see an updated forum.
