I usually like to carry a backpacking towel to use as a multipurpose item and to use it at home also but I have had bad luck with them stinking after awhile.
I tried the Discovery Trekking Extreme Ultralite Backpacking Towel that supposedly uses some anti-microbial stuff which just ends up making it smell musky on day three or four. I even find that after owning my Personal model PackTowl for a few months and washing it every week that it can't make it through the whole week without starting to smell around 5 days. I would use a cotton bandana but being 6'5" and 235#s it is long since soaked before it can get all the water on me. Maybe just a much larger bandana then? Maybe it is just my body chemistry. I don't stink naturally except when around poly. Any suggestions?
