I've been full in to backpacking for the last 2 years now. The only sleeping bag that I have is a summer lite. It has worked out well for me from summer down to 20 degrees. I'm now looking in to some late season camping that I don't think my bag will handle–plan right now is to do some November and December camping in WI and MN.
I'm thinking about getting a -10 degree bag so it can cover now and a bit colder, but I'm worried that will be annoyingly too much now and annoying too little later. Would you recommend getting something around a 0 degree bag and dealing with colder later? Will a 0 degree bag be useful enough in other situations? For example, I'm planning an early season trip to Shasta and a late season trip to Nepal.
What, what, what would you do?
