I just purchased a size small Montbell UL down jacket without the hood. The waist is larger than mine allowing for draft. Seeing as I only paid $120 for this jacket on sale, I'm wondering if there is anything out there that compares with this price and jacket, but with either an elastic waist or draw cord. I'm not a seamster or I'd try to handle this myself. Also, if anyone knows of someone who would be willing to sew a solution, I appreciate the recommendation.

I do understand that the version of this jacket with a hood has some type of draw cord at the waist. But I do not want the hood. Thanks!

I'd just take some 3M adhesive backed velcro and put it on the sides to tighten it up when you need to. You can also use non adhesive velcro and some seamgrip, probably would last longer. Put your hands on your hips, place one part of the velcro on the finger side, one on the thumb side, and when you want to tighten it, just pinch the jacket together on the sides.

You could also buy some elastic and seamgrip a 5" strip slightly stretched out onto each side along the bottom and clamp it down while it dries. That would probably work.
