I was curious if people generally have separate cooler weather pants or wear their year round pants with a base layer bottom underneath? Or put on a top layer (like rain pants) over their lighter pants when they stop? Or some combination of the above?
I have a couple pairs of nylon pants that I wear in warmer months (one convertible, one regular) – both are pretty light weight and wick moisture, dry quickly, etc… but neither provides much warmth. I'm not sure given my southeast region I need softshell or heavier pants and am inclined to just add a long underwear base when the weather gets down into the 40s. That or wear the regular pants when moving and add my rain pants as another layer when I stop…
Mostly I'm curious how folks here manage their pants/bottoms – I think I've got an understanding of the variations for tops systems.
