Wood Burning Stove for 3-4 People?

The ti-tri is my favorite wood burning stove by far. I don't know if they have an option for a 3 quart(not sure if they'll do custom work), but they have a designs for several 2 quart pots including their sidewinder versions that will fit into the pot. They have a huge burn chamber so you can load them with a ton of fuel. with the larger burn chamber they produce a ton of heat. All in a super light design with the option to use alcohol.

Another one you could look at is the Four Dog LT III
(no direct experience with this one..)
The top looks good enough (to me) for a 3 liter pot.
They seem to work better with a windscreen so an adjustable girth windscreen may work to reduce oxygen intake at the bottom therefore reducing heat output.
Another way could be a bottom ring similar to the one used in some alcohol stoves like the Brasslite

I really like the Lilttl Bug made in beautiful Bemidji MN. They have two sizes Jr and Sr. Take a look at their website http://www.littlbug.com There is no simmer control other than fuel amount or letting settle down to coals.

I think I will stick with canister stove for groups which if split up the weights are not too bad. I don't think there is yet a wood burning option available that can boil 3 quarts in a reasonable time and can simmer. I suspect demand is not too big either.

The LittleBug Senior will boil 3 quarts with one load of wood. Stack verticle and top light. After the boil feed twigs as necessary for simmer. Take lid off stove to insure a simmer.

I made this stove last year from a 1 quart paint can. Just today I decided to go public with the video. It's long, you will eventually see the 1 gallon of water boiling. Twigs are stacked verticle and are top lit.

They are annoying in a video for sure but music to my ears otherwise :-)

I think it took around 26 min. 6+ min. per quart. ain't bad if you look at it that way.

3-4 people waiting around for it to boil might get interesting:-)

The stove is only the size of a quart paint can. The Little Bug senior is much bigger and will do you just fine.

Someone might find the video interesting if they own a "bushbuddy" The "bushbuddy" can only boil 2 cups with a l load of wood. Both stoves are about the same size.

I enjoyed the crickets! We've had several hard frosts here and the crickets are gone for the season.

I really like the Littlbug Sr. for large groups. I've used one for 6 years now with groups up to 16 people. I use two 4 quart pots with cozies and sometimes a large skillet for cooking some very memorable and delicious meals.
