Best pole for DuoMid?

The GG LT4 poles, with one of GG's extension pieces, can be used to have a pole on each side of the Duomid, like the Solomid set up. Very sturdy indeed!

Yes, since both poles are used to support the tent.

Are you familiar with the Solomid setup? This is essentially the same thing, just needs longer poles.

I suppose an alternative would be to get two collapsible carbon fiber poles, and use them. It would still be pretty light weight, and certainly sturdy as all get out. The value of the GG poles is that being adjustable, they can fit a wider variance of ground-to-tarp-edge distance, which can vary with both terrain and your desired ventilation.

Stephen (and Brad) – I'm sharing this because I just found out about it – The Rotu Locura poles have about 6" of adjustment built in. Uses a locking mechanism similar to the GG LT4 poles.

I am using the 0.6" Ruta Locura pole. Ordered it in 54" (137cm) length with an adjuster. This allows me to pitch close to the ground (pole length at 54") or a bit higher up for more ventilation. This is with a Cuben DuoMid btw. Based on my experiences I would not recommend to get a pole that has a minimum size of more than 54".

Josh cut the four sections such that the total lengthof each section, including the ferrule on three of them, is 15.2" (39cm). Total weight, including adjuster, is 4.8oz (136 gram).
