What do you use as a rock sack for bear bag hanging?
I have a mesh onion bag that my cookpot/stove fits in. I could use that but Murphy's Law says it will snag in a branch.
I could also use a the small stuff sack that came with my Montane Lightspeed jacket.
Other ideas?
You might try using an old throw-away liner sock, or even a used baggy from your trash collection. The stuff sacks are great, but they do wear out and it costs to replace them. You could also sew up a crude rock sack from a scrap of silnylon, nylon, or any other light material laying around.
Fairly easy to make, takes about twenty minutes to sew by hand.
Tom, I found an old nylon ankle sock that will work: .1 ounces. Thanks for sending me in that direction.
I place a rock in the center of a bandana, gather the edges and tie on the hanging line with a clove hitch around the "neck".
