It may not be important to identify it by model. Instead, you can get a good idea of its temperature rating by thickness of the insulation.

Shake and fluff up the bag to its maximum and lay it on the floor. Measure the combined top and bottom thicknesses, and it will likely be a number like 4 inches or 6 inches. Report that here.

If the bag is clean, you may get it to fluff up to its maximum. If it is not clean, you may get only two-thirds of maximum.

Based on the colors I would guess that it is from the 1980's. Many of their bags back then were GORE-TEX shelled.

I bet if you sent the pictures to them they can tell you what it is from old catalogs.

Ive got an old Arroyo that is in those colors, but its a 30* bag and lighter.

I'm guessing Pinnacle and 15*

"It weighs 3lbs 3oz"

That can be a bit deceptive. When a bag is new and clean and dry, it weighs the least. Slowly over time, either it gets dirty from body sweat or it absorbs humidity out of the air, and that results in it getting heavier than when new. On the other hand, if you get too industrious, you might wash it incorrectly and screw up the down or the baffles. If you don't get it dried out properly, it can seem much heavier. When you simply pick up a sleeping bag, you can't tell if it is dry or not. One way to dry it out is to take an ordinary vacuum cleaner and hook up the exhaust and pipe that warm air directly into the sleeping bag opening. That causes the bag to dry out and puff up. I walked into an outdoor gear store one time when they were getting ready for a sleeping bag sale, and they had a big industrial vacuum cleaner blowing warm air into each model. The sales worker said that one thing was the biggest factor in increasing the sales of sleeping bags.

I still have (hanging woefully in the garage) a Marmot Peregrine, rated 10* with a slightly lighter purple non-GTX shell. I don't think your bag is that but there's another search term that might lead you somewhere.

Thank you all for your input. I learn so much from this forum. I'm going to determine the loft tomorrow. But as Bob said, a lot of things are determined based on how clean it is and if it is fully dry. The bag is pretty dirty so I will probably go buy some down wash from the store unless someone knows a better solution to wash down garments/sleeping bags.

Hopefully we can figure the identity of this bag! :D

I have personally determined that it is in fact the Marmot ‘Aiguille’ that Rog posted above. The style, weight, and calculated loft-temp rating matches this bag perfectly. A couple sources says this has 775FP and I found one other source that says 725FP. It seems to be gore-tex (which would explain why the goretex weighs 3lbs 10oz in BPL link below).

I measured the loft in two ways:
*Butterfly position: Right at 4″
*Cocoon position: 8″ – 8.5″ (8.5″ nearer to the footbox)

I followed the chart in the thread right below to measure the loft which came out to be right on the money for a -5F rated bag.

Upon further inspection, it actually isn’t filthy and it doesn’t smell at all. So perhaps we can rule out the possibility of there being a miscalculated weight and loft factor due to improper care for the bag.

Here are a couple links that determined my conclusion:

Thanks everyone for the input! :D
