I know the TS takes 47-44" as a higher pitch and as low as 36". Has anyone used a non-trekking pole to support one? I have a 45" SMD/Easton carbon pole and would like to use it for the opening and/or support, as I don't always use trekking poles, especially in day hikes in rainy weather. Thanks in advance.

I use a 45" .3?? aluminum pole with it. Can't remember the exact gauge.

Thank you. that's what I have and I'm glad to hear that the height is right. Hopefully the CF pole is not too brittle for this purpose. Maybe I'll measure some of my old Al tent poles to see if an aluminum support is available to me. If nothing else, I'll use a trekking pole under the shelter and a CF pole at the entrace. There will be no risk of the CF pole puncturing the shelter that way, and it will be under less stress.
